Lehighton Borough Council, on a 5-0 vote, with councilmen Joe Flickinger and Darryl Arner absent, took the following action on Monday:
• Approved payment application No. 5 in the amount of $33,961 for the Upper Park Improvement Project.
• Approved Upper Park Improvement Project change order No. 2 in the amount of $3,280 for concrete curbing and sidewalk outside of contract allowances.
• Agreed to sell the 2006 Ford F450 bucket truck to Mike Sakel in the amount of $27,100.
• Agreed to sell the 1994 Kovatch Pumper to Brendan Ahner in the amount of $7,100.
• Approved a lease agreement with the Lehighton Booster Club to utilize the Annex building from Nov. 22 through Feb. 22, with an $800 payment to be made the first of each month.
• Approved a request to extend the subdivision and land development plans for Debra Kay and Joe Bennett until March 31, 2020.
• Reappointed Gordon Ripkey to the water authority; Manny DaCosta, Donald Hahn, and Allen Young to the planning commission; Scott and Judy Wingert, and Robert Strausberger to the shade tree commission; Keith Schnell to the civil service commission; and Steve Niehoff and Manny DaCosta to the property maintenance board.
• Accepted the resignation of crossing guard Richard Anthony, effective the end of this month.
• Announced that borough council will meet at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month, with the exception of Feb. 10 and Sept. 14, 2020.
• Approved invoices to be paid before Dec. 31, with the list to be provided to council.
• Approved year-end transfers in the treasurer’s report.
