Concourse Club kicks off Chalk the Walk

The Concourse Club is bringing a new event to Palmerton.

In conjunction with the Palmerton Festival, Chalk the Walk is a new outdoor art event celebrating our community.

The sidewalk art will line Third Street from Lafayette Avenue to Delaware Avenue, welcoming everyone to the festival and annual art show. The event will take place on Sept. 11 from 8 a.m. to noon with a rain date of Sept. 12.

Open to all ages, preregistration is free and required to participate. A link to register is on the Concourse Club website, www.concourseclub.org, or on their Facebook page.

Chalk, if needed, will be available free of charge to all who register and can be picked up Sept. 10 from 5-7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Gymnasium, Third Street and Lafayette Avenue.

Those familiar with the Palmerton Borough Park have no doubt seen his chalk art near the bandstand, so it was a natural fit to ask Josh Merkel, a ninth-grade student at Palmerton Area High School, to create the logo for the event. Josh comes from an artistic family, and he and his father, Kim, can often be found in the park on weekends creating beautiful artwork for all residents to enjoy.
