Cheryl Steigerwalt of Mahoning Valley was approved last night to fill the vacancy on the Lehighton Area School Board.
On a 7-0 vote, she was selected by the directors to fill the seat left vacant by Julius Casari, who submitted his resignation to Superintendent Dr. Shirley D. Ball at the Aug. 10 meeting.
The new board member has lived in the area for 15 years and has a 9-year-old son in the school system. The new director is involved with a Lehighton area construction company, Reinhard and Steigerwalt Inc. She is currently studying for a degree in structural engineering at Lafayette University, Easton, and is the current secretary of the Lehighton Chamber of Commerce board.
