Jim Thorpe earned it first tennis win of the season by defeating Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg on Tuesday.

In other area action, Palmerton and Tamaqua both posted golf victories.

Jim Thorpe didn’t drop a set in cruising to a 5-0 victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg.

The Olympians (1-1) swept singles play, getting wins from Gabbee Nunez, Tara McLean and Hailey Trine.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl

Three Palmerton golfers posted scores in the 70s, helping the Blue Bombers roll to a 400-639 Colonial League victory over Pen Argyl.

Josh Suto earned medalist honors, putting up a score of 73. Tyler Hager finished one stroke behind with a 74, while Connor Reinhard followed closely with a 75.

The win lifts Palmerton to 4-0.

The Blue Raiders’ Peter McGinley turned in the low score of the day, firing an 85. Trent Schlecht chipped in with a 96.

The victory lifted Tamaqua’s record to 1-2.

Four Moravian Academy golfers finished in the 70s to help post a 400-501 Colonial League victory over Northwestern.

Evan Eichenlaub gained medalist honors by posting a 75, besting three of his teammates who finished one stroke behind him.

For the Tigers (1-2), Stone Sosnovik carded a 94.

James Kelly had the low round of the match for the Trojans with a 69.

Lydon Patascher paced the Bears with an 82.
