Trinity highlights

Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is blessing of prayer shawls and service of healing. A face mask covering the nose and mouth is no longer required for those fully vaccinated and past the 10-day waiting period. The church is air-conditioned. Lay minister Kathy Long presides.

The service of healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open for business without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Thrift Store is closing early today at 3 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The installation of Vicar Sarah Moore (no relation to the Rev. Moore), seminarian intern from United Lutheran Seminary, Aug. 29 during the worship service, as she begins serving Trinity for 12 months.
