Local car club celebrates 20th anniversary

The Jukebox Cruisers Car Club held its 20th anniversary car show at Big Creek Grange in Lehighton last weekend.

“We had about 60 cars show up,” said member Dave Curran, who helps run the club’s social media pages. “If the weather was nicer, I’m sure we would have had more.”

Curran, of Lehighton, has been a member of the Cruisers for 20 years. His father, brother, nephew and niece are also members.

“Many of us meet up and travel together for the shows,” Curran said. “A lot of the shows were canceled during the pandemic, we couldn’t even get together for our monthly meetings. There were a couple of cruises we went to here or there, but we basically started in the beginning of April again with our monthly cruises with our club.”

The club hosts a monthly cruise on the fourth Friday of each month. The organization is involved and is a donor for many local charities and nonprofits.

As of July, the car club has 124 active members.

The club has many upcoming events. There will be a car show at the Mahoning Valley Nursing Center on Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with food raffles and music.

Its monthly meeting is Aug. 7 at the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club at 7 p.m. A Friday night cruise is set for Aug. 27, rain or shine, beginning at Penn Forest Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1.
