It sure feels like Christmas in July to the Bowmanstown Fire Company.

This week, the company put into service a 1981 Ford rescue truck which was donated to the Bowmanstown company by the Lehighton Borough Council and the Lehighton Fire Department.

The Lehighton department purchased a new rescue truck recently and had attempted to sell the old one through the bidding process. But when it became obvious it wasn’t about to receive a bid equal to the value of the vehicle, it asked the council to consider giving it to Bowmanstown.

Lehighton Fire Chief Jack Kuller reasoned the truck would remain in service in the local area and could very well be utilized for a major fire in Lehighton.
