The Pennsylvania Department of Health has implemented new immunization regulations for the 2017-18 school year.
The Weatherly Area School District reminds its families that the regulations shorten the provisional enrollment to the first five days of school."What this means for our students is that the boosters for new kindergarten students, students entering seventh grade and students entering 12th grade need to be received as soon as possible, but before the first five days of school, or your child risks exclusion from school," the release states. The new guidelines do not change the regulations allowing a child to obtain an exemption from immunizations for either religious or medical reasons.School nurses recommend scheduling an appointment with the child's doctor as soon as possible.Proof of immunizations should be forwarded to the school nurses.Any child not meeting the state requirements for immunizations will be excluded from attending school according to the Pennsylvania law, so please don't wait to submit the required documentation.Refer to the Weatherly Area School website for more detailed information or call the school nurses with any questions.
