Prothonotary report
Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of May 2021.
There were 278 cases started in May with the following breakdown: civil actions, 24; custody, 19; DJ appeal, 5; divorce, 13; license appeal, 4; mortgage foreclosures, 6; court appointment, 1; protection from abuse, 23; replevin, 4; zoning appeal, 1; aud/fin/reports, 1; STIP/WAIV/LIENS,11; judgments, 142; custody modifications, 17; miscellaneous, 4; and writs, 5.
A total of 72 passport applications were processed in May. In addition, a total of 25 renewal applicants sought assistance from the office; and 59 photos were taken. Passports are by appointment and pictures can now be taken in the office.
Total income generated was $25,311.47; prothonotary fees, $19,988.01; custody/divorce fees, $2,075; data processing fees, $3,087.18; interest income, $24.53; PFA surcharge sheriff, $9.75; and stenographer fess, $127.
In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $2,100, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $3,792.12; and automation fund $830 - money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.
