Wilbert Normand Jr., 40, of Newark, Del., will be charged by state police at the Frackville barracks with failure to drive at a safe speed and accidents involving overturned vehicles, as a result of a crash at 1:50 p.m. Sept. 7 on the southbound on ramp of Interstate 81 in Kline Township.
Police said he was driving a vehicle that was traveling from Route 309 at McAdoo when it failed to negotiate a curve. He lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll onto its side, striking the guide rails and sliding to a stop.Police said the trailer part of the rig, a tank trailer, was hauling anhydrous ammonia, a hazardous material, but the tank remained in tact and no Hazmat was released. The scene was cleaned up by workers from Air Products and Chemicals, Hometown.Police said the ramp to I-81 southbound was closed for about 10 hours.Police said Normand sustained minor injuries.
