Women leading the charge against wokeism, critical race theory in many areas
Conservative women are spearheading the remarkable pushback we’re seeing in society today against the woke agenda and critical race theory.
Moms for Liberty is one new group confronting liberals and standing up for parental rights at all levels of government. The founders, Tina Descovich and Tiffany Justice, both former school board members from Florida, are using their firsthand knowledge and experience to unite parents for the cause of liberty. They lashed back after seeing how the destructive policies of critical race theory are directly hurting children and families.
As the nation heads into the July Fourth holiday, the grassroots efforts of Moms for Liberty are to be applauded as are individual citizens like Molly Barela, who recently challenged Shane Fuhrman, the mayor of Silverton, Colorado, for his proposal to suspend the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance from public meetings.
The mayor said the pledge has led to threats and divided the community, although he didn’t elaborate on the nature of the threats.
In challenging the mayor, Berela, a trustee, said that the decision was made without board approval. When she and other meeting attendees stood up and recited the pledge, the mayor stated they were out of order.
Berela said that telling members of the public they are not allowed to say the Pledge of Allegiance during a public meeting and threatening to have them removed violates their First Amendment rights.
Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert agreed, calling the mayor’s action “a disgrace.”
In South Dakota, Gov. Kristi Noem, has also taken a stand against wokeism, calling for an end to “anti-American indoctrination” in public schools while emphasizing the need to restore a “patriotic education” for children across the country.
Noem recently joined other conservative politicians who have a commitment to bring back an “honest, patriotic education that cultivates in our children a profound love for our country.” Former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson also joined the “1776 Pledge to Save Our Schools”
The pledge states that “Young people should be taught to view one another not according to race or gender, but as individuals made in the image of God.”
Noem tweeted: “Teaching our children & grandchildren to hate their own country & pitting them against one another on the basis of race or sex is shameful & must be stopped. I’m proud to be the 1st candidate in America to sign ‘The 1776 Pledge to Save Our Schools.’?”
In a joint op-ed piece, Noem and Carson spelled out the need for educators to specifically resist incorporating critical race theory into their curricula, calling the challenge to defeat ascendant anti-Americanism “perhaps the most important cultural challenge of our lifetime.”
“Critical race theory,” they stated, “is a deliberate means to sow division and cripple our nation from within - one brainwashed and resentful student at a time. And while foreign adversaries like China and Russia surely work to inflame our divisions, we are doing this to ourselves.
“Not only is this extreme ideology deeply divisive and harmful,” they wrote, “but it rejects America’s most defining principle - that as individuals we are all created equal by God.”
Earlier this year, in an op-ed for The Federalist, Noem claimed that the country has failed to educate generations of our children about what makes America unique.
“Few, if any of them, have been taught the history of our decadeslong fight to defeat communism,” she wrote. “Meanwhile, the left’s indoctrination takes place every day with kids all across America from the time they walk into a school at age 5 to the time they graduate college at 22.”
On a separate front challenging the Biden administration, Noem filed a lawsuit to get fireworks back at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota after the National Park Service rejected the state request for July Fourth fireworks at the national monument.
On July 3, 2020, a patriotic fireworks display was held at the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The fact that President Donald Trump spoke at the site during that grand celebration of America’s birthday a year ago was not forgotten by left-wing Democrats after the Biden administration controlled the White House.
By requesting to hold our celebration at Mount Rushmore on July 3, Gov. Noem was hoping to stoke the fires of liberty … and help unify a politically divided nation.
