The Palmerton Library - the intellectual capital of the borough - is getting a face-lift.

New ceiling lights, a refurbished roof and masonry work were just completed as part of the library’s $49,000 renovation program. Within the next few weeks, the 35-foot-high window panes on the front and Fourth Street side of the building will be replaced.

The library last year received a $24,500 state matching grant from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund to assist in the project. Generous donations from borough businesses and private gifts will be used to match the state money and a $50,000 contribution the library received from the Estate of Sara Strohl who passed away in the fall.
