Three people scheduled for trial Monday instead entered guilty plea agreements with the district attorney's office before Judge Steven R. Serfass.
William Dale Hartranft, 41, of Danielsville, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Hartranft was arrested on May 29, 2013, by a vice unit of the state police Hazleton barracks at 873 Edgemont Ave. in Palmerton.In a plea agreement, charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance were dropped and the paraphernalia charge was added to the criminal complaint.Serfass deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Heather Sue Walck, 27, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of retail theft. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Nov. 14, 2012, at the Walmart store. Various items valued at $364.62 were taken. She was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.Serfass placed her on probation for six months and ordered her to pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee and to not go into the Walmart store. The items were recovered so there was no restitution due the store.Scott David Collins, 34, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of driving under suspension-DUI related. He was arrested on March 13 by Jim Thorpe police following a vehicle stop.Collins is an inmate at the Bucks County prison serving a sentence on unrelated charges. Serfass deferred sentencing so Collins could apply for the Intermediate Punishment Program-house arrest.
