The Carbon County Commissioners, in their final meeting of the year on Thursday, acted on or discussed the following items:

• Appointed Michael Baran of Beaver Meadows and Jeffrey Hager of Palmerton to five-year terms on the Redevelopment Authority.

• Received a letter from Rapid Response Inc. confirming that the company has been recertified as a hazardous materials response team until April 30, 2024.

• Accepted a letter advising the county that the late Gordon L. Merluzzi bequeathed $1,500 to the Carbon County Animal Shelter.

Personnel

• Resignation: Tyra L. Boni of Lehighton, first deputy, register of wills, effective Dec. 20. Boni will be sworn in as the new clerk of courts on Jan. 6.

• Court appointment: Thomas S. Kupres III of McAdoo, IT specialist, court computer, effective Dec. 30.

• Sheriff appointment: Ian O. Achberger of Allentown, special deputy sheriff trainee, effective Dec. 30.
