State police at Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 5:53 a.m. on May 24 along Berne Drive in South Manheim Township. Hunter O. Strauch, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1995 Jeep Wrangler northbound when he lost control of the Jeep. The Jeep rolled over the guardrail, ejecting Strauch from the vehicle. Strauch was able to crawl over the guiderail to get off the travel lane.

Strauch was taken to a landing zone where a medical helicopter flew him to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The vehicle was towed.

He was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10:58 p.m. on May 16 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Brandon L. Wasser, 19, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2007 Subaru Outback northbound and attempting to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. After striking the barrier the vehicle then crossed the left side of the road and struck the center median. Wasser was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

Troopers said Wasser showed signs of impairment and is facing driving under the influence charge.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:57 p.m. on May 28 along Route 209 in Porter Township. Samuel J. Boyle, 41, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2019 Ford Transit truck westbound when he lost control and struck a large tree along the right berm. Boyle was not injured but showed signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. The vehicle had to be towed.

Boyle was taken for blood tests.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:30 p.m. on May 29 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said George E. Stokes, 54, of Allentown, driving a 2002 Honda Civic attempted to get around a car that was turning right and steered over the white line and into the passing lane where his vehicle sideswiped a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Deborah Hoy, 45, of Orwigsburg. Stokes then fled the scene. Hoy was able to get the license plate on Stokes’ vehicle and he was later identified and charged, troopers said.

No injuries were reported to Hoy and her two passengers.

• A Schuylkill County driver is facing charges following an incident that was reported on June 3 at 7:54 a.m. along Ann Street in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Charles S. Brilla, 51, of Saint Clair, was operating a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 truck and parked along the southbound lane in front of 891 Ann St. He backed his truck up and struck a mailbox knocking it over. He then fled the scene but was later located.

He has been issued citations for the following: accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, duty to given information and render aid, report accident to police, limitations on backing, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, fraudulent use or removal of registration plate, careless driving and not having insurance.

A hit-and-run was reported at 3:33 p.m. on May 28 along River Street in Cressona borough. Troopers said a 2017 Chevrolet Trax was legally parked in the area of 78 River St., when a vehicle made a left turn onto River Street from Birch Street and struck the Trax. The driver then fled the scene. Troopers said the incident occurred sometime between 6:30 a.m. and when it was reported.

A crash was reported on June 5 at 1:04 p.m. along Route 183 in Cressona. The drivers involved were identified as William C. Laudeman, 41, of Minersville, driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, and Alexendar Duvall, 36, of Baltimore, Maryland, driving a 2020 GMC Terrain.

No one was injured. Troopers did not provide details of the crash.
