Bowmanstown hears concerns over road conditions

Road conditions have once again sparked debate in Bowmanstown.

Resident Paul Lupcho asked how the borough is planning to fix all the roads in the borough.

“What is your plan?” Lupcho asked. “Do you have a plan?

Council President William Ravert addressed Lupcho’s concerns.

“There is a five-year plan adopted to address streets in the borough,” Ravert said.

Lupcho said he’s heard about the five-year plan, but nothing’s been done.

“Are you going to let all the streets deteriorate?” he asked.

Ravert told Lupcho “it doesn’t happen overnight.”

Further, Ravert said to do one block of street in the borough costs $100,000.

Councilwoman Pam Leiby said they’ve reviewed every street, but that they have no borough workers.

“We are going to do some pothole patching,” Leiby said. “We are planning on getting these potholes fixed.”

Leiby said, “We’re going to try to start getting them better soon.

“It’s not that we aren’t trying to fix things,” she said. “Everything costs a lot of money to get done.”
