Class of 1964
Members of the Jim Thorpe High School Class of 1964 will meet at noon July 21 at the Palmerton Hotel for lunch. Following the luncheon, the members will view the Moving Wall, which will be at the Palmerton Borough Park. Members attending lunch shouldwear the color blue for the group photo.Class member Ed Moyer was instrumental in bringing this display to Carbon County. The United Veterans Organization of Palmerton, made up of American Legion Post 169 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7134, are honored to have The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., on display from July 21-25. The official opening ceremony will be held at 7 p.m.Clothing giveawaySt. John's Lutheran Church, 391 South Ave., is in the process of collecting new or fairly new used clothing for its 2016 clothing giveaway. Items to be donated may be dropped off at the church from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and again July 18-21.The giveaway will begin on Aug. 4 and ends Aug. 20. The times are: from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. There will be a large variety of men's, women's and children's clothing, as well as small household items.
