Two young woman were injured Saturday morning when involved in a crash in Packer Township. The accident occurred just before noon as they were traveling east in the 1200 block of Quakake Road. The driver told a neighbor at the scene that a spider descended from the roof of the car and as she attempted to swat it away she lost control. Her vehicle entered the right berm, sliding on the lawn into a tree at the drivers door. The two were extricated from the wreckage by members of the Weatherly Fire Company. They were treated at the scene, then transported to an area trauma center. State police at Hazleton are investigating the incident.
