Wind chill advisory in effect until 9 a.m. Friday

A wind chill advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Friday.

The wind chill will be as low as 15 below zero due to overnight temperatures of 2 to 8 above, and winds west 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 40 mph. Winds diminishing somewhat toward dawn.

Bitter wind chills may produce frostbite with prolonged exposure to the cold.

A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

If you must venture outdoors...make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

Snow will overspread the area late friday night and accumulate several inches before changing to sleet and freezing rain during midday Saturday.
