FEBRUARY 18, 1991Soldiers serving in Operation Desert Storm will be warmer during the cold desert nights thanks to long johns made at the J.E. Morgan Knitting Mills of Hometown.The U.S. government recently awarded the knitting mill a contract to keep America's soldiers warm in the unpredictable climate in the Operation Desert Storm arena.The contract calls for the local firm to make 135,000 dozen of the thermal undergarment. Bryan Behr, customer service manager at the Hometown facility, said the company is proud to be a small part of the war effort in the Persian Gulf.
