Man said he was selling pot to get money for court case

A Wilkes-Barre man is in Schuylkill County Prison after Coaldale Police discovered a quarter pound of marijuana in his car after a traffic stop in the borough.

Casey Christian Didas, 40, was driving east on Route 209 on April 18 when police noticed a Volvo didn’t have a functioning rear license plate light. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled a “strong odor of marijuana.”

Police found a gallon bag with a “green leafy substance,” and a second bag in a sweatshirt, weighing 6 grams. A marijuana joint was found in the front seat. Didas told police it was marijuana he was delivering to Lehighton so he could get money for another court case he has pending, police said. Police said he also had an outstanding warrant from the Berwick Police Department.

He is charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and no rear lights.

He is in prison unable to post 10% of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. June 29 in Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer’s courtroom.
