Firefighters from five communities were once again placed into service when called to a rescue operation at the Glen Onoko Falls.
At 1:30 p.m. Sunday emergency personnel were dispatched to an incident where two women fell at the first set of falls, with one falling between 12 to 15 feet suffering a serious back injury.
Rescue workers took about an hour to extricate the victim from the mountain. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to a local trauma center.
When rescuers first arrived on scene they were greeted by a five foot black snake lying sunning itself at the gate to the railroad bed. Rescuers were warned to look for rattlesnakes which are predominant in the area.
