Several defendants entered pleas Tuesday before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Dakota Paige Appleby, 23, of Lansford, pleaded to one count each of simple assault and persistent disorderly conduct.She was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on Aug. 12 at 214 W. Kline Ave. She assaulted Jennifer Kocela at that address.Matika placed her on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently, and ordered her to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, render 50 hours of community service, attend and complete anger management counseling, and have no contact with the victim or her family.Joshua S. Polcinik, 27, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of simple assault. In exchange for the plea a charge of endangering the welfare of children was dropped.Polcinik was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on June 2 at 14 E. Kline Ave. Police responded to the home for a report of a domestic incident. Police said Polcinik got into an argument with an 8-year-old boy over a video game and grabbed the juvenile and slapped him.Matika placed Polcinik on probation for a year and ordered him get a D & A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, attend and complete parenting classes, and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
