A Lebanon driver is facing charges after leading police on a chase in Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said at 2:30 a.m. on March 20 troopers observed a 2011 Subaru Legacy parked outside the Sunoco station located at 418 Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township. The business was a recent victim of a burglary and was closed at the time.
The vehicle quickly left the lot when the driver apparently saw the state police cruiser. Troopers followed the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop due to a registration violation. The driver failed to stop and led troopers on a 15-mile pursuit which concluded in Branchdale, Schuylkill County, when the vehicle became disabled along a muddy road. The driver attempted to run away but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Upon running the vehicle identification number it was discovered the vehicle was stolen from the Hamburg state police coverage area.
The driver was identified as Travis Gorey, 29. It was also learned that Gorey had two additional felony arrest warrants outstanding.
He was taken to the barracks where charges of fleeing and eluding police and related counts were prepared. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $100,000 bail.
