Schuylkill County Commissioner Barron “Boots” Hetherington has asked Commissioner George Halcovage Jr. to resign.

“I am officially calling for George F. Halcovage to immediately step down as Schuylkill County Commissioner. For almost a year I have been consistent with my position that Commissioner Halcovage should be afforded due process. My position has not changed. However, it has become quite obvious that his personal problems are impeding the successful operation of the Courthouse including our administrative staff and my goals for making Schuylkill County a better place to live, work, and play.”

Halcovage said previously he would not resign. A call to his phone went to voicemail.
