Police report on Monroe County crashes

State police reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers in Monroe County:

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 7:28 a.m. on March 2 along Interstate 80 in Pocono Township. Troopers said Alyssa N. Moore, 18, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2011 Jeep Patriot when she swerved from the roadway due to a coyote running in front of her vehicle. The vehicle went onto the berm and crashed into an embankment.

Moore was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital - Pocono campus, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries. The vehicle had to be towed.

• A second crash was reported at 3:55 p.m. on Feb. 13 along Lower Cherry Valley Road in Hamilton Township. Dominick L. Heller, 20, of Effort, was driving a 2007 GMC Canyon when it went off the road and struck a wood and wire fence. The vehicle then overturned before stopping right side up.

Troopers said Heller then fled the scene north on Lower Cherry Valley Road but was later located on Rustic Lane.

He was cited for the crash.

• Regina M. Snyder, 32, of Kunkletown, was cited by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks for driving on roadways laned for traffic after a mishap at 8:50 a.m. March 4 on Interstate 80 in Stroudsburg Borough.

Police said she was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt that was involved in a crash with a 2001 Kenworth tractor trailer driven by Jonnie R. Long, 65, of Kempton.

Police said it appeared neither driver sustained injuries in the mishap, but noted Snyder refused a medical transport.

Police did not provide the details of the crash but said Snyder’s car was towed from the scene while the tractor trailer was driven from the scene.

• State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 12:24 a.m. on March 11 along Route 209 in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Ben W. Green, 34, of Kunkletown, was driving a 1993 Ford Ranger westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. His vehicle struck the deer, went off the road and then hit a fence post. Green was not injured. His vehicle had to be towed.
