State police at Fern Ridge report on charges
State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following incidents:
• On Feb. 22 at 8:28 p.m. troopers stopped a 2019 Ford Fusion along Commercial Boulevard at Parkside Avenue in Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, for a stop sign violation. Through the course of the investigation a consent search of the vehicle was granted and police found 53.5 grams of suspected marijuana. Jhazir Smith, 24, of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, and Elibeth Ventura, 20, of Patterson, New Jersey, were transported to the county prison in Snydersville for processing and later released. Drug charges have been filed, troopers said.
• On Feb. 10 a 50-year-old man from Saylorsburg reported that he suspected an employee was stealing grinder pumps from him worth $3,650. Police interviewed John Paul Vitek III, 21, of Danielsville. Later Louis Auletti, 53, of East Stroudsburg, was also found to be involved in the thefts.
Both had theft and related charges filed against them.
• On Feb. 28 at 8:07 a.m. troopers were dispatched to 40 Pin Oak Drive, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, for a report of a dog law violation. The victim, a 71-year-old woman from Pocono Pines, said her neighbor, Michael Wine, 43, of Jim Thorpe, allowed his dog to enter her driveway and it was not on a leash. Charges have been filed, troopers said.
• On Feb. 25 at 4:38 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the area of 88 Chapman Circle, Penn Forest Township, after receiving a complaint about an argument which had taken placed on the roadway.
An investigation revealed that a 40-year-old woman from Albrightsville, who troopers declined to identify, had a dog running loose in the area. The suspect engaged in an argument with a 57-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, both from Albrightsville, who had been walking their leashed dogs near the suspects’ home.
The argument escalated with the suspect approaching the two victims and removed their eye glasses from their faces. She then threw the two pairs of glasses into the street. The suspect was cited for two counts of harassment - physical contact. No injuries were reported.
• On Feb. 15 at 12:46 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2015 Jeep at Route 115 and its intersection with Route 940, in Tobyhanna Township. The driver, a 41-year-old man from Mountain Top, Luzerne County, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Troopers said the suspect was charged.
• On Feb. 21 at 9:08 p.m. troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2000 Buick Le Sabre at Lake Harmony Road and Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. The driver, a 55-year-old man from Long Pond, who troopers declined to identify, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He was taken into custody and transported to the county prison in Snydersville. He refused a test.
