Summit Hill native Edward O’Brien has been appointed to the permanent staff of the United Steelworkers of America District 9 with headquarters in Bethlehem.

He was named to serve as legislative chairman for the district, which serves 12 local unions in Northeastern Pennsylvania by negotiating contracts and arbitration matters.

O’Brien is married to the former Shirley Gerber of Seek. He is a son of Mrs. Margaret Crampsie, Summit Hill, and the late Edward O’Brien, who died while on active World War II duty in 1945, and a stepson of former Summit Hill Police Chief John L. Crampsie, who died in 1983.
