George M.D. Richards, Esq., Lansford, solicitor in the office of Sheriff Charles D. Neast in the courthouse, has resigned, it was announced during today’s regular meeting of the county commissioners.

James Walker, chairman, presided. Commissioner Ralph D. Mooney attended, as did solicitor Donald L. McCay and Chief Clerk Jacob Paperman.

The resignation was said to be on the basis of the $1,000 per year salary offered for the job. It was revealed a committee representing the Carbon County Bar Association had conferred with the commissioners in the past with a view to having the solicitor salaries adjusted, but no action has been taken to date.
