Palmerton Library
The Palmerton Area Library is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays by appointment only. Browsing appointments are 30 minutes each and computer appointments are 45 minutes each. Please call the library at 610-826-3424 to schedule an appointment. If you need photocopy or fax services, you do not need to schedule an appointment, but please call ahead since the number of patrons allowed in the library is limited.
Curbside service is still available. You can request materials for curbside pickup by calling the library, logging into your library account at palmertonarealibrary.com, or emailing your request to palmertonarealibrary@gmail.com.
The basement is currently closed and book sales are on hold until further notice.
Faith Alive Church
Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin. At 9 a.m. is traditional service and 10:30 a.m. is a contemporary service. Four options of worship remain: in the sanctuary, in Leah’s Room (masks required), the parking lot (FM 104.3), or Faith Alive-Facebook Live. In the event of inclement weather, the delays or cancellations will appear on Channel 69 News WFMZ.
Lent starts Feb. 17 with Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.
Men’s Bible study is held each Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Adult Bible study is held each Thursday at 2 p.m.
New Bible Study with DVD “Anxious for Nothing!” is planned. Sign up now and the studies will begin Feb. 24 at 12:30 p.m., or at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The ABC Food Pantry is collecting canned goods to stock up the pantry for needy people in the community.
The Mission for February is Red Bird Missionary Conference. It provides education and Christian evangelism ministries and community out reach.

Jerusalem UCC
Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) holds worship services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Through the end of March, services will be held in the sanctuary with limited seating. Social distancing and masks are required. Supply Pastor Don Quayle will lead the worship.
You may also remain in your vehicle in the church parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM. The service will also be livestream on Facebook at 10:30 a.m. The service will be recorded for viewing at any time at your convenience on Facebook or the church website.
Tune to TV Channel 69 (WFMZ) or Blue Ridge Channel 13 for JUCC winter weather closings and delays. Weather-related post closings are also on the website and Facebook.
Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, service will be held at 7 p.m. The Consistory meeting will be held Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.
Holy Trinity Lutheran
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton, holds Sunday Worship service at 10:15 a.m. The church is open with limited seating. If you wish to attend, please call 610-826-2524 so the number attending can be noted. You are asked to wear a mask and enter through the main door. Please remember to bring food items for the CACPAC food pantry. If you are unable to attend in person you may join on Zoom.
Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, service will be held at 7 p.m. and will be an evening of Confession and Holy Communion with the imposition of ashes.
Bible study is held on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
Holy Trinity Thrift Shop
The Holy Trinity Thrift Shop at 502 Lafayette Ave. is open every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Masks and social distancing is required. They have a selection of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, housewares, books and much more.
Haluski sale
St. John Neumann Regional School, 243 Lafayette Ave., is holding a first Friday of Lent haluski sale on Feb. 19 from 1-6 p.m. It is sponsored by the Catholic Slovak Ladies. There is no need to pre-order. Just pick up at the school. The haluski is being sold by the pint or quart.
St. John’s Lutheran Church
St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, holds Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. Masks and social distancing are required.
Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Imposition of Ashes and Communion will be held at 7 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Moore will be officiating. All are invited to attend.
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran
Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will be holding drive-thru Ash Wednesday services Feb. 17. The first will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m., and the second from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ashes will be distributed in a safe manner using rubber gloves and disposable Q-tips.
School closings
The Palmerton Area School District will be closed on Friday and Monday in observance of Presidents Day.
