Drug presentation for seniors planned

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging, Pennsylvania Link to Aging and Disability Resources and Carbon County Area Agency on Aging on March 27 will host a drug presentation geared toward senior citizens, those with disabilities, caretakers, providers and social workers.

The program, Spot the Signs of Drug Abuse in your Family and Neighborhood, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lehighton Recreational Center, 243 S. Eighth St., Lehighton. Lunch and bingo will follow the presentation.During the event, Carbon County District Attorney Jean Engler, state Rep. Doyle Heffley and Jamie Drake of Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission will provide information on a number of drug-related issues, as well as help build a better understanding of prescription and addictive substance abuse, and how to prevent the abuse in the home and neighborhood as it relates to the aging population and those with disabilities.For more information, contact Julie Rovinski-Mann at
