The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed Friday there were 4,688 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 861,674.

There are 3,138 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 653 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19.

As of 11:59 p.m. Thursday, there were 138 new deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, reported for a total of 22,239 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Local numbers

• Carbon County added 25 new cases since Wednesday for a total of 4,496. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 130.

• Lehigh County has 28,603 cases, an increase of 228, with six more deaths for a total of 701.

• Luzerne County has 23,292 cases, an increase of 112. There were seven more deaths, bringing the total to 654.

• In Monroe County, there are 29 new cases for a total of 8,765. One more death was reported for a total of 249.

• In Northampton County, there are 114 additional cases, for a total of 23,981. Six more deaths were reported for a total of 582.

• Schuylkill County reported 11,365 total cases, 40 new cases. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 343.
