A Schuylkill County woman was sentenced to a state prison term on Thursday in Carbon County court on drug-dealing charges.
Judge Steven R. Serfass sentenced Tia Marie Fairchild, 43, of Coaldale, to serve a total of 16 to 48 months in a state correctional institution on two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. On a charge of hindering apprehension, she was sentenced to serve two to 12 months in a state prison, concurrent with the drug charges. She previously pleaded guilty to the charges.
The first drug count stems from an incident that occurred on Sept. 26, 2016; the second on Sept. 30, 2016. The hindering charge also occurred on Sept. 26.
Fairchild has been in the county prison for failure to appear at a prior sentencing proceeding.
Fairchild told the court, “I’m ready to clean up my act.”
Serfass also rejected requests to sentence her to a county term and also to run all the sentences concurrently.
Fairchild was also ordered to supply a DNA sample, get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use, make restitution of $1,690, pay court costs of about $1,000 and render 200 hours of community service when paroled.
She was given credit for six days served in prison on the charges.
