A Tamaqua woman was struck by a car Thursday night as she was walking west on Spruce Street.

Kimberly Brogdon, 41, was walking in the street at 9:35 p.m., next to the stone wall in the 100 block of Spruce Street, when she was struck by the passenger side mirror of a westbound Volkswagen Golf. The VW was driven by Dakota Paisley, who lives in the 100 block of Spruce Street.

Brogdon fell to the ground, injuring her head, shoulder and ankle. She was transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale in the Tamaqua Community Ambulance.

Police note she was wearing dark clothing and the roadway was dark and wet, possibly contributing to the accident.
