Argall, Goodman announce grants for 6 Schuylkill projects

Six community improvement projects in Schuylkill County will receive state grants, according to Sen. David G. Argall, R-Schuylkill/Berks, and Rep. Neal P. Goodman, D-Schuylkill.

The grants, totaling more than $350,000, were recently announced as part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.Grants are:• Cass Township, $40,000 grant to rehabilitate and further develop Condor Commons Park, with construction of stormwater management measures, installation of fencing and play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, and landscaping, sign and other related site improvements.• Foster Township, $17,500 for the preparation of a master site development plan for a 45-acre community park.• Mahanoy City Borough, $150,000 for the development of Kaiers Playground, including construction of a new pavilion, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.• New Philadelphia, $65,000 to finance the development of the New Philadelphia Walking Trail. Work will include construction of approximately 0.5 miles of trail from the New Philadelphia Recreation Area to Riverside Drive, rain garden, and fishing pier; ADA access, landscaping, project sign, signage and other related site improvements.• Reilly Township, $40,000 for the further development of Branchdale Park. The project will include construction of pavilion and stormwater management measures, installation of fencing, ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.• Saint Clair Borough, $40,000 for the rehabilitation and further development of Third Street Playground, including installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access and landscaping.
