The Lehighton girls and Weatherly boys picked up basketball wins on Monday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pine Grove-Lehighton

Hailey Miller’s 20-point performance sparked Lehighton to a 54-45 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.

Miller scored eight of her points in the fourth quarter as the Indians pulled away down the stretch.

Lehighton (3-4; 2-4) also received 15 points from Taylor Bowman, while Aaliyah Fisher finished with eight.

Mikaili Donmoyer paced the Cardinals (5-5, 1-5) with 14 points.

PINE GROVE

North Schuylkill-Panther Valley

Four different players scored in double figures as North Schuylkill rolled to a 71-37 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley.

Mya Wetzel paced the Spartans with 20 points, while Kamryn Mengel scored 12 points.

The Panthers’ Erika Dubosky finished with a game-high 22 points, including a 10-for-10 effort at the foul line, and 13 rebounds while Maddison Maynard chipped in with seven points.

Panther Valley drops to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the league, while North Schuylkill improves to 5-2 and 5-1.

Weatherly-Tri-Valley

A 21-point opening quarter helped Tri-Valley cruise to a 49-20 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.

The Bulldogs’ Autumn Connell scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first period to help her team build a 20-point lead.

Ashley James finished with a team-high eight points for the Wreckers (1-6; 1-5).

The win lifted Tri-Valley to 2-2.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Weatherly-Northwest

Weatherly used a big second half to gain a 53-35 non-league win over Northwest Area.

Trailing by a point at halftime, the Wreckers (7-1) came to life behind Scotty Zoscin, who scored 17 of his game-high 19 points after intermission. Zoscin, who was in foul trouble most of the first half, tallied 12 points in the final quarter when Weatherly, who has now won seven games in a row, eventually broke the game open.

Antonio Colecio added 14 points for the winners, while Ethan Broskoskie tallied all 10 of his points in the decisive second half.

Mount Carmel opened a double digit first-quarter lead and cruised to a 62-39 non-league victory over Tamaqua.

The Tornadoes’ Pedro Feliciano netted a game-high 19 points.

Luke Verta led the Blue Raiders (0-9) with 13 points, while Nate Gregoire added 11.

Trevor Amorim posted a pin at 152 for the Bulldogs, while Brendan Smay earned a major decision at 113.

Cooper Ansbach led the Blue Raiders with 10 points.

Tamaqua-Marian

Tamaqua posted a 29-27 victory over Marian.

Spencer Dennis paced the Blue Raiders with eight points. Rodino James led the Colts with eight points.

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Tamaqua knocked off Blue Mountain, 44-33.

Mason Ligenza paced the Blue Raiders with 11 points.

8TH GRADE

Lehighton-Northwestern

Lehighton and Northwestern Lehigh played to a 36-36 tie.

Blake Roberts led the Indians with 18 points, while Cole Dietz drained three three-pointers on his way to 11 points.

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Tamaqua ran away with a 25-9 victory over Panther Valley.

Declan Coleman paced the Blue Raiders with 10 points.

7TH GRADE

Lehighton-Northwestern

Northwestern defeated Lehighton, 41-24.

Carter Bellis led the Indians with seven points.

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Panther Valley edged Tamaqua, 24-23.

Brody Breiner paced the Panthers with 17 points.

Fronheiser finished with a team-high eight points for Tamaqua.
