Panther Valley and Tamaqua picked up girls basketball victories on Friday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Pine Grove-Panther Valley
Panther Valley jumped out to an early lead and held on to post a 47-43 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.
Erika Dubosky scored nine of her game-high 22 points in the opening quarter, while Sera Robin tallied six of her 13 in the second frame as the Panthers gained a 21-10 halftime lead.
Dubosky added eight rebounds as the Panthers improved to 2-2.

Tamaqua held off a Blue Mountain rally to post a 39-36 Schuylkill League victory.
Sophia Boyle had 14 points and five steals to lead Tamaqua (3-1). Serena Jones added seven points and 15 rebounds, while Emma Hope was also a force on the boards with 14 rebounds.

Ashley James scored a team-high 17 points for the Wreckers, who only trailed by five at the break. Weatherly also received 12 points from Brianna Pugh.

Justin Smith scored all of his game-high 21 points in the second half to help Pocono Mountain West pull out a 53-40 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.
The Bears led by one at halftime in their season opener, but Smith caught fire over the final two quarters.
PV received a team-high 13 points from Joel Contreras.
