The incorporation of Nesquehoning, New Columbus and Hauto, now parts of Mauch Chunk Township, into the proposed Borough of Nesquehoning, took a big step toward reality today, when the matter was aired during a hearing conducted before Judge Albert H. Heimbach in the Carbon County Court.
After hearing four witnesses, Judge Heimbach took the matter under advisement amid indications he will hand down a decree approving the petition of a majority of the resident freeholders of the three communities involved.
Judge Heimbach noted no objections were filed on the petition. The new borough will go into immediate effect upon the court’s signature, however the township would exist until the first Monday in January 1964.
