Frank Karnish, president of Lansford’s American Fire Co., spoke at the first regular meeting of Lansford Borough Council, asking council to rescind the action taken at the year-end session involving volunteers.

The measure pushed by the outgoing members of the council was to turn over the building next to the municipal building, which houses the fire company, to the firefighters, along with the responsibility to maintain and insure it.

Karnish described that action as a motion to “force” the building on the fire company.
