Police have released details in a Lower Towamensing truck crash on Dec. 7.
Three people who were passengers in the sleeping cab of a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer that crashed at 2:32 p.m. in Lower Towamensing Township were injured and taken to the hospital.
State police at the Lehighton barracks said the incident happened on Forest Inn Road when a shift in the load on the rig caused the trailer to overturn.
The injured parties included two men and a women, all from Miami Lakes, Florida. They suffered “suspected minor injuries” and were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
The driver of the rig was Kenny Olivera, 35, also of Miami Lakes. Police said he was northbound when the load shifted, which caused the trailer to overturn. The trailer overturned, then caused the tractor portion of the rig to flip onto its right side. The trailer landed on a tree while the truck cab struck a utility pole.
Police were assisted at the scene by a Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission conservation officer, the state Department of Environmental Protection, the Carbon County Emergency Management Agency, Palmerton and Lehighton ambulances and the Aquashicola Fire Department. Police said Forest Inn Road was closed in both directions while All Points Towing worked to clean the crash off the roadway.
