Police report on Lehigh County crashes

Police report on the following area crashes:

• Zachery J. Merenda, 22, of Tamaqua, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 8:40 a.m. Dec. 5 at the intersection of Route 309 and Gun Club Road in Lynn Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said he was driving a 2015 Chrysler 300 southbound when he driving around a curve in the roadway and his car struck a 2020 Ram Rebel that was legally parked on the west shoulder of Gun Club Road.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Merenda was not injured.

• Two people were hurt in a crash involving two vehicles at 4:46 p.m. Dec. 10 at the intersection of Welshtown and Skeet Club roads in Washington Township.

State police at the Bethlehem barracks said Gail A. Cichello, 66, of Palmerton, and her passenger, Joseph E. Cichello, 63, were injured. Police said they were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by the Northern Valley EMS. The extent of their injuries is unknown, police said.

Police did not provide details of the crash but said the occupants of the second vehicle were not injured. They are Brice C. Dye, 18, of Slatington, the driver of the vehicle, and his passenger, a 14-year-old boy from Slatington.
