Nesquehoning Historical Society looks for funds
Nesquehoning Historical Society is asking for help so that the organization can match a recent donation that will be used for a roof restoration project that is desperately needed.
Last week, the society posted a challenge to residents on Facebook, saying “The Nesquehoning Historical Society was blessed to find its home when several years ago the former First Baptist Church located at 157 W. Railroad St. was gifted to the society to advance its mission of preserving borough and county history.
“Not long after occupying the building (in 2018), which overall is in good shape, it was determined that the roof needed to be replaced. The society is now undertaking a fundraising campaign to raise the necessary funds to complete this much-needed renovation.”
Estimates for the roof replacement are approximately $24,000.
The society stated that a donor pledged $12,000 toward the project already and an additional $1,500 has been pledged by various residents in honor or memory of loved ones.
“We are reaching out to the community to raise awareness and to ask for your support,” the society posted.
Donations of any amount can be sent either through the group’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/NesquehoningHistoricalSociety and click on donate or by mailing a check to Nesquehoning Historical Society, 157 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240. The group asks that when you make a donation, you specify this is for the roof restoration project.
The Nesquehoning Historical Society is an organization that aims to preserve the history of the borough through various displays within the building.
