Emergency personnel had to extricate a person trapped under a tractor trailer Saturday afternoon in Kline Township.

The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. on the southbound on ramp to Interstate 81 from Route 309. The operator of the rig failed to negotiate a curve on the roadway rolling the unit onto its right side.

Rescue units from Schuylkill and Luzerne counties responded to the scene.

A heavy duty wrecker from Hope’s towing in Tamaqua was also rushed to the scene. Because of the dense fog an air medical helicopter could not be used to transport the victim.

State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
