Weissport mom gets jail for bringing baby to meth house

A Carbon County woman who was pregnant when police found her 18-month-old baby in a Coaldale house where a meth lab was found will serve three to 12 months in jail.

Jenny Haydt, 23, of Weissport, was sentenced Wednesday in Schuylkill County court by Judge Jacqueline L. Russell.She also ordered Haydt, who pleaded guilty to reckless endangering, to perform 20 hours of community service, and pay court costs and fees.A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was dropped.Russell gave her five days credit for time served.Haydt begins her sentence on Oct. 28.At her plea hearing, Russell ordered Haydt to undergo a drug test. The test showed Haydt had no drugs in her system, according to the adult probation department.According to court documents, Haydt was six months pregnant when Coaldale police on Feb. 21, 2014, discovered a meth lab in a house on East Ruddle Street.They arrested Haydt and her roommate, Jason Shiffert, 33.Shiffert in January pleaded guilty to drug charges and was sentenced by President Judge William Baldwin to two to four years in state prison.
