3 Schuylkill businesses cited for liquor violations

Three Schuylkill County businesses have been cited by the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for violating state liquor codes.

Two businesses, Mazloom Inc, trading as Mazloom Inc., 57-50 Valley St., New Philadelphia, and Pocono Enterprise Co., trading as Pocono Enterprise Co., aka, Mulligans, 216-318 S. Main St., Shenandoah, were cited for failing to abide by the order and mandates of the governor and/or secretary of health.

Mandates include that the businesses must require all customers to wear face masks while entering, exiting or moving throughout the establishment, provide face masks for employees to wear at work, require employees to wear face masks at all times while at the establishment, and selling alcohol to a patron for on-premises consumption in a transaction that includes a meal.

It is not clear what part of the mandate was violated.

Pocono Enterprise was additionally cited for furnishing alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption after 11 p.m., allowed patrons in excess of 25 percent of the fire code limitations within the licensed premises for the purpose of indoor dining without enrolling in the Open & Certified Pennsylvania Program, or not providing at least six feet between parties at tables or physical barriers between customers where booths are arranged back to back.

The Mazloom violations occurred on Oct. 22 and the Pocono Enterprise violations occurred on Oct. 24.

Also cited by Old Buckhorn Cafe LLC, trading as Old Buckhorn LLC, 61 S. Front St., Saint Clair, for failing to comply with the order of the administrative law judge mandating responsible alcohol management certification during the period of Sept. 22 through Nov. 2.

These charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can impose a license suspension or revocation of license based on the severity of the charge brought.
