Tons of rock which fell from the side of the mountain briefly closed Route 209 on the Mansion House Hill in Jim Thorpe this morning.
Robert Transue, police officer in Jim Thorpe, said the call came in at 8:10 a.m. He said he wasn’t aware of any vehicles being damaged by the slide.
He and Mahoning Township Police Chief David Ebbert were able to remove pieces of the rock to open the center lane for traffic, but larger rocks blocked the northbound lane, requiring Pennsylvania Department of Transportation employees to be called to the scene to clear the roadway.
