State police at Schuylkill Haven
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on incidents in Schuylkill County:
• Troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2004 Chevrolet Aveo at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 3 along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township. The driver, identified as Sean Ashelman, 30, of Bloomsburg, was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest for DUI. Charges to be filed.
•Troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 9:29 p.m. Nov. 2 at Rolling Mill and Summer Valley roads, in West Brunswick Township. On scene troopers found the registration plate was removed from the 1997 Honda Accord and the driver was not present. The driver, a 35-year-old man from Allentown, who troopers declined to identify, was found at a nearby residence. It was also discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Newark, New Jersey. While in custody the suspect made several suicidal statements and was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville, for a mental health evaluation. Charges are pending.
• On Nov. 4 at 8:31 a.m. troopers made a traffic stop along North Sillyman Street at Main Street in Cressona borough. A passenger in the vehicle, Thomas Steranko, 43, of Reading, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Drug charges are pending.
On Oct. 31 at 6:06 p.m. troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. As a result of an investigation one driver, a 43-year-old man from Schuylkill Haven, who troopers declined to identify, is facing a driving under the influence charge.
On Nov. 8 at 6:55 p.m. troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash along Route 61 at Pottsville Street in North Manheim Township. As the result of an investigation a 43-year-old man from Reading, who troopers declined to identify, is facing DUI charges.
• Police are investigating damages done to a billboard located along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County.
The incident was reported on Oct. 24 at 12:29 p.m. The owner said he rented the billboard to a political group for the past month. He said the group who rented was named “No white guilt.org.” The victim said sometime between Oct. 23 at noon and when he reported the incident someone vandalized the billboard by spray-painting on it. Damages were estimated at $800.
