Tamaqua Chamber announces tree contest

The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce announced its tree decorating contest.

“We are happy to be working with the Tamaqua Spirit of Christmas Committee for this event for the whole community,” said the chamber’s Aimee Dotson.

“Local businesses, religious organizations, nonprofit organizations, service clubs and individuals/families are encouraged to apply. The trees will be displayed for the start of the annual Spirit of Christmas event on Dec. 3 and will be on display for the month around the Tamaqua area.”

The chamber will release a list of locations. There will be awards for the best individual, business/organization and a people’s choice award.

“The public will be able to vote for their favorite tree on the Tamaqua Chamber Facebook page, (via) email, and with a QR code, which will be attached to each tree. Winners will be announced on Dec. 18. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s creativity and holiday spirit!”

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Nov. 20 at 103 E. Broad St., Tamaqua at 5 p.m.

Contest rules are posted on the Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

To register, contact the chamber, or send a registration form to chamber@tamaqua.net. Deadline to register is Nov. 27. Trees must be displayed by Dec. 3 and winners will be announced on Dec. 18.
