Northampton County woman sentenced to prison term

A Northampton County woman was sentenced to prison terms on Thursday in three cases.

Jessica Valentini, 43, of Walnutport, appeared before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to be sentenced for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, in which she previously pleaded guilty, and on two other cases in which the court revoked her probation terms for violations.

She was previously placed on probation of a theft charge and in a second case for harassment. Those sentences were revoked by Nanovic on petitions filed by the adult probation office.

She was arrested for the theft count on Oct. 12, 2017, for entering a home along Mahoning East Drive in Mahoning Township and removing clothing. In that case a felony burglary charge was dropped in a plea bargain with the DA’s office.

The harassment occurred on Jan. 20, 2018, filed by Franklin Township police. In that case two counts to terroristic threats were dropped in a plea deal.

Valentini was also previously placed in the county’s drug court program but was terminated at her request. She told the court she could not follow all the conditions of the program because she lived in Northampton County and had trouble getting to Carbon County.

Valentini is currently an inmate in the county prison on the charges.

On the DUI charge she was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in jail, pay a fine of $1,500, one-year license suspension and supply a DNA sample. She was given credit for 103 days already served and paroled. On a driving under suspension - DUI related charge she was sentenced to 90 days in jail, concurrent with the DUI count and on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge one year probation, concurrent to the other counts.

On the theft charge she was sentenced to serve six to 23 months in prison and on the harassment, six to 12 months, with the terms running concurrently. She was given credit for 98 days already serve but still has the remaining time of the six months to serve.

She must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee when paroled. Her sentencing was held via video from the county prison.
