Purchase of the Mauch Chunk Water Company and the Upper Mauch Chunk Water Company by the Jim Thorpe Water Authority was consummated today at a total cost of $435,234.34.

This represents $344,302.93 to the Mauch Chunk Water Company, including $20,584 for its real estate, and $90,931.41 to the Upper Mauch Chunk Water Company.

Included in the purchase, which was approved by borough council on May 21, are all real estate assets, structures, pipe lines, rights of way, easements and physical properties. Under it, both firms surrender their franchise to furnish water to the community.
